The firm raised more than $500 million from venture capitalists and made a gross profit of $675 million in 2024. Klaviyo was one of the first tech firms to test the IPO waters after a market downturn; it went public in 2023. In 2017, Hallen stepped away from a full-time role at Klaviyo to start HR automation firm Team Engine, but rejoined in 2021 as chief product officer. Before Klaviyo, he worked at a business analytics software firm. He holds a degree in systems engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from MIT.
